Fiat Chrysler Automobiles manufactures and sells cars and light commercial vehicles, with a global workforce of more than 262,000, an IT landscape of over 5,700 business applications, and over 20,000 servers.

Initial attempts to populate the CMDB relied on external vendor inventory and other tools, resulting in redundant CIs, inconsistent taxonomy, and items reported in multiple ways. Basically, “garbage in, garbage out.” FCA leveraged ServiceNow's CMDB reconciliation, normalization, and automated Discovery and Service Mapping to improve their CMDB.
